InPage to Unicode Urdu Converter
Paste legacy text copied from an InPage text frame and convert it into editable Unicode Urdu for websites, documents, email and search.
Ready. Editing the input keeps your existing output.
Begin with Automatic mode. If the pasted text has no hidden legacy markers and stays garbled, choose Legacy text without markers. Numbers keep their input order.
How to convert InPage text to Unicode
- Copy from the text frame. Select text inside InPage rather than copying the whole document file.
- Paste and convert. Use Automatic mode first. It protects text that is already Unicode from unnecessary conversion.
- Try legacy mode when needed. Some clipboard routes remove the hidden markers. If the result stays garbled, select Legacy text without markers and convert again.
- Review and publish. Copy the Unicode result into your CMS, Word document, social post or email and proofread uncommon letters.
Why Unicode is useful for Urdu publishing
Unicode Urdu can be searched, indexed, copied between modern devices and displayed with standard web fonts. It is suitable for websites, mobile apps, online archives and accessible documents. A legacy InPage encoding may look correct in its original desktop-publishing setup while becoming unreadable in browsers or databases.
Automatic mode reads the marker-based format produced by this website and keeps unmarked English text intact. Legacy mode is more aggressive because it must interpret symbols without those markers. Review accented English characters in mixed-language copy when using that mode.
Known legacy ambiguities
Old encodings can assign the same code to more than one Urdu character. In the mapping used here, standalone hamza and joining yeh-with-hamza share a code. The converter uses word context to produce connected forms in words such as نئی, مسئلہ and کوئی, while keeping word-ending ء separate. A warning reminds editors to check uncommon spellings. Unknown legacy tokens remain visible rather than being replaced with question marks.

Frequently asked questions
Can this open an .inp file?
No. It converts text copied from an InPage text frame. Document layout, images, columns and styles are outside the text conversion.
Why did Automatic mode leave my text unchanged?
It did not detect legacy markers and therefore avoided damaging text that might already be Unicode. Select Legacy text without markers only when the pasted input is visibly garbled.
Are English words and scores preserved?
ASCII English letters, ordinary spaces and numbers pass through. Scores retain the order in which they appear in the pasted source.
Why should I proofread the output?
Legacy encodings lose distinctions between a few letters and may vary between InPage versions. Proper names and unusual Arabic marks deserve a final editorial check.
